With so many people advocating the use of social media it can often be overdone and become a source of annoyance to your customers rather than a source of attraction. Here are a few things to avoid:
1. Too Many Posts
Everyone has a flooded inbox with dozens of emails to read, blogs to scan and news articles to peruse. With all of this going on, you run this risk of being ignored if your posts are so frequent that they become white noise in the minds of your consumers. One of the things we help our clients achieve is the ideal quantity of posts in order to engage their customers.
2. One-Sided Conversations
Too many are using their social media to only make a hard sell to the consumer, rather than create content which invites the consumer and makes him/her feel welcome to begin the conversation. Content should be written to attract the customers’ attention and put them in good spirits before trying to make a sale.
3. Worthless Content
Content is king, but it has to be content that is fresh and relevant to your consumers. Nobody wants to see the same lines or advertisements over and over again. Content should be updated regularly in order to retain customer attention.
