Since being introduced to the world in 2003, WordPress has evolved into one of the most versatile and useful content management systems (CMS) available today. While it began as a simple platform that allowed users to host their own blog to tell their stories, it now exists as a fully functional platform for websites and mobile applications and integrates well with SEO and Social Media.

The broad and ever-increasing popularity of the site can be attributed to the ease by which it can be adopted for use by businesses and professionals, as well as the ease by which it can be navigated by visitors.

Here at KM Guru Marketing, we highly value WordPress and use it extensively in our business and on behalf of our clients. While there are a number of great and compelling reasons to use the platform, we’ll look at three features that particularly stand out among the rest. These are themes, plugins and multi-media integration.

Themes  One of the great benefits of using WordPress is that it is an “open source” platform. This means that the actual code which makes it run is available for anyone to study, modify and to develop according to their needs. These may be for desktop sites or for mobile apps and the once developed, many designers and developers will save their creation as a theme. Themes are essentially ready-made templates which will make your site look and function in specific ways. Themes come in a wide assortment of styles and designs and most are customizable to the industry for which they’re being used. Colors, logos, images and text can all be changed while still keeping the overall look and feel of the website. This is the power of themes.

Plugins – plugins are what take WordPress to the next level. These are installable features that add additional options to your website. There are thousands upon thousands of plugins available on the WordPress repository (the WordPlace marketplace) that will allow you to accomplish specific enhancements to your website, such as a store page, or member forum. If there’s something you’re wanting on your website, there’s a likely a plugin available that will make it happen.

Multi-Media – WordPress isn’t just limited to text. It also is designed to handle images, audio and video content along with oEmbed enabled websites. This means you can integrate Youtube videos, Instagram photos, Twitter and Soundcloud audio by simply pasting the URL into your post.

All of these are great reasons to consider WordPress for your next website or as an upgrade for your current one. We specialize in WordPress and can fabricate a website that is specifically designed for your business.
